Fear in Your Human Design Chart: The Spleen

In the Human Design chart, all of the gates of the Spleen, Ajna, and Solar Plexus have the potential to manifest as fears if they are defined in your chart. Generally, our defined gates and channels are energies that are projected by our auras, and affect us and the people around us. Our areas of definition show both the gifts and struggles that will remain consistent for us throughout our lives.

This doesn’t mean that these are the only fears we can have - we may have taken on a lot of fears through our open centers and channels particularly from outside conditioning.

By knowing where we naturally carry energy, we can be aware of both the strengths and weaknesses. If we are aware of where we naturally carry fear, we can develop mechanisms for recognizing when we are acting from a fearful place, and redirect our energy.

If we have these as hanging gates (i.e. we don’t have the whole channel) then we will be particularly vulnerable to these fears. The other side of the channel is the balance or “answer” to these fears, so if we don’t have the entire channel, the fear may be reaching out to us with a question, and our Personality or Design doesn’t naturally provide the answer.

FEARS OF THE SPLEEN

The spleen represents our physical fears. These are our most ancient, survival-based fears that may have origins even before we became homo sapiens. The Spleen asks - is there enough food, shelter, water, protection? Here is some info about the fears found in each of the Splenic gates:

Gate 18:

  • Fear of authority, and the patterns or flow that governs all of us. This gate speaks to making corrections/adjustments/analyzing to make sure that we’re going in the right direction, and challenging the authority that is telling us all how we should be.

  • Fear of authority as something dangerous - that our leaders, parents, teachers, may not have our best interests at heart.

  • Fear that anyone with influence or power over us will abuse it and harm us.

Gate 28:

  • Fear of purposelessness, that being here on Earth isn’t worth all the struggle.

  • Fear that life is just about survival, not love or prosperity.

Gate 32:

  • Fear that there is not enough resources to support everyone.

  • Lack mentality in the physical world.

  • Fear that creative and entrepreneurial partners of the same caliber as you aren’t out there - that you are alone and unsupported in the physical world.

Gate 50:

  • Fear of taking on dependents, having children, taking responsibility for another in a material sense.

  • Fear of entering a family, staying close to a family, getting married, because it could result in having children and needing to take care of them.

  • Fear of taking responsibilility for the environment, the Earth.

Gate 44:

  • Fears of difficult situations in the past - lack of food, money, shelter.

  • Fears of not being able to survive, based on past issues.

Gate 57:

  • Fears of the future, and whether you will be provided for.

  • Fear of never being able to be secure and safe in the present.

Gate 48:

  • Fear of not being enough - of not being clever or skilled enough to survive.

  • Fear of being powerless to bring about a solution, even though we have the answer inside.

HOW TO WORK WITH THE SPLENIC FEARS

With the knowledge of these gates, we can be aware of the energy that we are consistently transmitting through our auras. Knowing what energy we are bringing, positive or negative, is important. It allows us to know how we affect others. If we can manage our fears and be aware of them, we can use them to know ourselves even deeper.

Another important thing to keep in mind when looking at the Splenic fears in your chart - is the gate black (conscious/personality) or red (subconscious/Design)? If it is black, we will be more aware of this in our everyday reality. If it’s red, it’s something that will be driving us on a deeper level that we may not be aware of.

Beyond these gates, it’s also important to remember that your undefined gates are where you are most open to conditioning from other people. If your parents, your partner, or the community you are in is particularly prone to one of these fears and you have that channel undefined, you may have taken on a lot of conditioning around that fear.

On Earth, we live in a world of polarity. Fear is just the opposite side of love and acceptance. The more aware we are of the shadow side of our strengths, the more we can know ourselves and are able to live as exactly who we came to be.

Love,

Rachel
