How I Got a Book Deal in Alignment with My Generator Design
In a recent episode of the New Paradigm Human podcast, I talked about something that might be useful to you if you’re a Sacral Being who is curious how to make big things happen while still honoring your “wait to respond” Strategy—the story of how I got a book deal while staying in sync with my Generator design. Myth Busting: Generators Can’t Make Things Happen?
First off, let’s debunk the notion that Generators and Manifesting Generators—what I refer to as Sacral Beings—can't make things happen in life. We absolutely can, but our approach is different from the “hustle and go get it” mentality that we’ve been taught we have to adopt to succeed. We just need to wait for a response—often a series of responses—that guide us toward the steps necessary for making our desires reality. It’s not that we’re idly waiting; we're actually very much engaged with life, just in a more attuned way. We’re constantly paying attention to what is showing up around us and noticing how our bodies respond to it.
The Proactive Generator/MG
Being proactive as a Generator or MG looks different from what we may have been taught. It’s not about jam-packing your schedule and exhausting all your energy. It’s actually about:
Leaving space for new thing to enter your life
Focusing on what you enjoy doing
Acknowledging your desires
Our defined Sacral energy is constantly emitting desire—this is the basis of everything we do in the world. So, it's not about forcing outcomes but instead about drawing them to us.
The Original Desire to Write a Book
I’ve had a life-long desire to be a writer. As a child, I used to create little books and as a teenager, I daydreamed about becoming an author. But then…life happened. My attention shifted to adult responsibilities and gaining basic job skills, and insecurity shoved that dream into a dusty corner.
Fast forward to about six years ago, and the idea of making a living doing something I loved began to feel like a more realistic possibility. The desire to write a book arose again. I didn’t know what I'd write about yet, and I knew it wasn’t the time. A few years later, after founding Pure Generators and blogging consistently, I thought about writing a Human Design book. But I didn’t want to self-publish; I wanted a publisher to approach me.
Then one spring day in 2022, it happened. I opened my email to find a message from a publisher who had been reading my blog. “Do you want to write a book?” I felt the response - it was a yes!
Responding My Way Through
Of course, just because the initial opportunity showed up, it didn't mean everything was set in stone. I had to meet the publisher, discuss the vision, go through contracts, and ensure that we were on the same page. Sometimes you can respond to the overall idea positively, but find that the opportunity is actually a “no” when you see the details. Luckily, we clicked, and the book moved forward.

Having Energy Doesn’t Meaning Loving Every Second
Now it was time to write the book, and while overall I enjoyed translating all of my favorite concepts into words—the process wasn’t all sunshine and roses. I had to figure out the balance between freedom and structure in my writing process, and even then, not every moment was a breeze. There were times I had to grind, especially towards the end. I even spent ten days on my couch, doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and writing. However, I got through it, even the challenging edits, because that true “yes” response was enough to carry me through to the end of the project.
The Point of Human Design Isn’t to Make Life Easy
Let’s be clear. The idea of being in alignment with your design isn’t about making your life easy. Challenges are part of growth, and growth is often why we’re here on Earth. The goal is to make your journey easeful, to be in flow, even during those challenging times. When you follow your Design, the challenges you face are the ones that your soul craves. They help you grow, make you stronger, and lead you toward your true self.
The Book Enters the World!
As you can see, the journey to landing a book deal wasn’t a straight path. As always when living our Design, it required trust and patience. At each intersection, I used my Strategy and Authority to take the right turns. It didn’t make the road bump-free, but it felt like everything turned out perfectly in the end.
So whether you're a Generator, a Manifesting Generator, or any other Human Design type, the key takeaway is this: be true to your design, and your path will unfold as it's meant to. Trust your inner voice; it knows the way. Your desires can absolutely become reality!
